In 1998 with the ever increasing demand for artificial insemination in this area, we began to think that we should fill a gap within the market. Many studs have facilities for collecting and inseminating mares with semen from their own stallions, however we thought why not only make use of our own stallions for this technique, but also of any other stallions which stand at stud nationally and internationally. Our stud and laboratory was rigorously inspected by the British Equine Veterinary Association and to our delight approved as a BEVA artificial insemination centre.

Many people in this area wanted to try artificial insemination with semen from all over the U.K and abroad, but were concerned about sending their much loved mares to studs abroad and a long way away. Now it is possible for the mares to come to us, mix in an environment where other mares and stallions are and be inseminated by the semen of the owners choice which can be organised by ourselves and delivered here, thus cutting down on costs and also time for the mare owner.

Artificial insemination takes a lot of time and skill making sure the mare is scanned up to four times a day until peak fertility is reached and then insemination takes place at any time, day or night even if that means 4 am!

LOCATION AND ACCESS

End House Stud is located close to the motorway network and accessible directly from the A59 Skipton Clitheroe Road. Access to End House is via tarmac road throughout and we have ample turning space for transporters and trailers.

For overseas clients easy access can be gained from Stranraer, Hollyhead and Hull ferry terminals.
