Yoshka

Yoshka is an attractive very modern type of Thoroughbred a winner by a winner out of a dam of winners from a family of winners. He is a compact horse with a beautiful head, kind eye, a fabulous shoulder and length of rein with good bone. He has good conformation and shows super straight moving elevated paces with a very good walk. His champion bloodlines link him to some of the top racehorses of all time .He has a level and calm nature with a superb temperament a pedigree and performance record that indicates stamina combined with speed he is a winning half brother to dual Ascot Gold Cup winner Royal Rebel. He was bred by Bloomsbury Stud bought as a yearling by Gainsborough Stud as a two year old he joined Mark Johnston in Middleham North Yorkshire.

Yoshka won 3 races and placed twice from 6 starts as a 2 and 3 year old EBF double trigger maiden stakes 9f - Levy Board Handicap 12f - Dragon Troop Turmeric Handicap 16f- 2nd Valdoe Rated Stakes Goodwood 1m 6f - 3rd Everards Popular Pubs Handicap Leicester 1m 4f

Sire comment 9f winner at 2, later useful 12f-2m handicapper,

Then tragedy struck and he was kicked in the starting stalls at Doncaster Race Course resulting in a spiral fracture of his front right cannon bone. The owners thought so much of him and rated him better than his half brother Royal Rebel that he was operated on in Newmarket to put a six inch plate in his leg of which he still has today so no longer able to race he recovered well enough to stand at stud to enable his valuable gene pool to be utilised by breeders in the UK.

Previously standing at stud in Lincolnshire where he covered Sports Horses and Ponies, Irish Draughts, and Thoroughbred mares producing race horses Ochiltree Lady, Lily Kate, Annies Idea, Moon Warrior and Ash Holt. He also competed at dressage with his lady owner having not been ridden previously for 6 years she described him as well mannered and his progeny as very good movers with excellent temperaments.

We bought Yoshka from Ireland late summer 2018 and are very excited to have him standing at stud with us in the North of England he is available natural service at the stud.

We consider him to be a superb sire for top class Show Horses - hacks & riding horses - Eventers - Point to Pointers - Race Horses – Endurance Horses. He is the perfect sire to inject quality into heavier mares and height into smaller mares. He offers an excellent Opportunity to breed top class Welsh Part Breds and Anglo Arabs, for the many showing classes that are now available at top class level.

Grand Lodge was retired to stand as a stallion for the Coolmore Stud, being shuttled between their main base in Ireland, Lord Howard de Walden's Plantation Stud in England and the Woodlands Stud in Australia.
