The Humerist upgraded to intermediate level in his first season eventing winning at Upton House, Osbaldeston and Bishop Burton horse trials. He was quietly produced by Andrea Morris as a six year old competing up to open intermediate level, qualified Someyleton National Novice Championships at Knaptoft horse trials novice regional finals and was in the top ten BHDB Young Event Sire Rankings '97, '98, '99 - ranked 5 th 2000, also ranked 8 th top ten living Sires by own winnings available by A.I. He retired from eventing after his companion our stallion My Little Million was killed across country - we just couldn't bear to loose Monty as well. After his eventing success we accepted an invitation to parade at Badminton Horse Trials 1998 with the other top event Stallions in the country and also paraded at Burghley Horse Trials 1999. In one season of affiliated dressage ridden by international rider Lisa Marriott he qualified for the novice and elementary winter semi-finals, has won or been placed highest percentage 70% at Premier League Shows, competed up to and including medium level, has established half pass and changes working at advanced medium and has won 80BD points. Dressage judges comment on his attractiveness and his correct paces. These activities are all ridden in a snaffle he has even been ridden in a sidesaddle - a test ament to his outstanding temperament and good manners. The Humerist's dam, Hitparade - Grade B Showjumper owned by The Humerist's Breeder Mr J Howard and competed by his son Downes was by Maximillion a Grade A Showjumper. His Sire, Marlay Humorist bred by Hazel Booth from a family of homebred competition horses was the sire of advanced event horses Marlay Silhouette and Stratham Sebastian who qualified for Badminton. Funnyman, his grandsire, won seven races, placed 15 times, travelled all over Europe winning over various distances and acting on any ground, time form rating 112, "progressive and very genuine" (Racehorses of '73) and was the sire of top class steeplechasers Huntsworth and Torside , advanced eventer Comic Relief and Working Hunter of the Year 1986 at Wembley.
