Matraash (USA)

Matraash is an attractive very modern type of Thoroughbred a winner by a winner out of a winner from a family of winners. He is a very tall compact horse with a beautiful head, kind eye, a fabulous shoulder and length of rein with 9 inches of bone. He has good conformation and shows super straight moving elevated paces with a very good walk. His champion bloodlines link him to some of the top racehorses of all time. Gone west American Stakes winner - Riverman Leading sire in France - Mr Prospector leading sire in North America - Never Bend American 2 yr old Champion 2nd Kentucky Derby - Shareef Dancer Gp1 Irish Derby Stakes &  Damsire of Dubai Millenium.

He was bred in America by Shadwell Farm LLC and spent his informative years in Dubai before coming to England as a two year old to join Mark Johnston in Middleham North Yorkshire owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum.

In his racing career he was the winner of 10 races and was placed 21 times racing over 9 to 12 furlongs. After spending several years in Ireland in 2013 he was trained by Daniel Mark Loughnane in Staffordshire and won his last race in March 2016 as a 10 year old. For an entire to have stayed in training and still capable of winning as a 10 year old bears the upmost testament to his enthusiasm, soundness and temperament. So good was his temperament that Loughnane’s 9 year old son would regularly ride him back to the yard from the gallops.

Elusive Quality Race record 20 starts 9 wins 7 places career earnings $413,284 Major wins Poker Handicap & Jaipur Stakes 1998. He stands at stud at Darley America Lexington Kentucky for a stud fee of $30.000. Renowned for siring fast, robust and exceptional horses on four continents: Sire of four Champion two-year-olds, 12 record setters, 40 G1 performers, 50 Group/Graded winners and 125 black-type winners.

We are very excited to have Matraash standing at stud with us for his first season he is available natural service and fresh AI at the stud.

We consider him to be a superb sire for top class Show Horses - hacks & riding horses - Eventers  - Point to Pointers - Race Horses – Anglo Arabs – Endurance Horses. He is the perfect sire to inject quality into heavier mares and height into smaller mares. He is from a family of champions why not let him breed one for you!!

“Matraash joined my yard as an older horse (7-9 years) and won 8 races during his time with us. He was a very sound horse and very straight forward to train. He was a real character around the yard and the first horse I would choose to ride every morning” Daniel Mark Loughnane

“This is what a legend he is ... our 9 year old son walking him back from the gallops” Daniel Mark Loughnane
